La arquitectura penitenciaria. Un proceso interdisciplinario

  • Juan M. Everardo Carballo Cruz

Abstract

Development of executive designs for Social Re-adaptation Centers (CERESO, official acronym for prisons in Mexico) is extremely complex, due to the premises set by the Constitution and the resulting Laws dealing with the handling of criminals that have been sentenced with confinement. The Mexican Ceresos are institutions that accommodate large groups of persons that must perform all or almost all their activities confined in a space that must offer, among other, minimum conditions of dwelling, security, isolation and control. Thus, the development of such designs requires a previous national- stateand regional planning, as well as an interdisciplinary participation capable of dealing with an integral solution.
